Have you heard from your student(s) about the Turtle Trot assembly held this Tuesday! Vern the Turtle showed up for a visit. The amazing staff of Lake Center Elementary performed a Turtle Trot rap for the kids. And all of the students are excited and ready for raising money and participating in Turtle Trot next Friday! Grade-Level Competitions K: Top raising class will receive a visit from Vern the Turtle during calendar time or enjoy an extra recess outside. 1st: The teacher from the top raising class will color their hair green 2nd: TBD 3rd: The teacher from each class with 100% participation will paintitheir face green 4th: TBD 5th: Top raising class will get an additional 30 minutes of recess DONATIONS DUE BY OCTOBER 10 Return donation envelopes or donate online by Friday, Oct 10th.The primary fundraiser for the Lake Center PTO will be a “Walk a thon” type event. The event is called the Lake Center Turtle Trot. We do not plan to participate in any catalog sales programs during this school year. The Turtle Trot will take place on Friday September 26th during school (Rain date: Oct 3th). Prior to the event, Students will solicit pledges from family, friends and neighbors for a fixed amount or for the number of laps traveled around the track. After the event, Students will collect donations and in great prizes. Some of the reasons we are excited to host this fundraiser: FALL FUNDRAISER Great Return: Nearly 100% of every donation goes to support Lake Center !! Reduce your Taxes: Portage Lake Center PTO, Inc. is a 501c3 tax exempt organization. Donations made during this event are tax deductible if you itemize. Double your money: Some employers participate in “Matching Contributions” and will match employee donation to a 501c3 organizations. Check with your employer. Promote Fitness: This event encourages kids to participate in fun physical activity. Fun: We will be providing a fun, festive environment for the event. Kids will have opportunity to win great prizes that promote school spirit!
